The less than fun part of running a company is the boring company admin however I will be honest the small milestones are exciting. Now the company is registered the accountants got working on the VAT registration. For those not familiar with this it is Value Added Tax and it is a tax that any company over a certain threathold must charge on goods and services. It is a necessary evil and I am excited to say it has been done quicker than expected. The accountants estimated this would be done in January but it is already done. I am happy to say that the company is now VAT registered. This is a small milestone but it is a milestone none the less.
This one was much easier, while it went against some of the first advice I got on creating a business I went with a bank I already use called Bunq because the banking options here in Ireland are very limited. Bunq provides and excellent app and good enough support via the app and website to get everything I need done. They also have an API I can use to automate some of the boring company admin.
The final recent milestone was a DUNS number. This is a unique identifier for a company and is used by some companies to check the credit worthiness of a company. It is also used by the Irish government to check the credit worthiness of a company. For companies in Ireland this is meant to be an automatic process but something has went wrong and they have the company listed under the wrong Eircode for some reason. I have queried this with them and I expect it will be resolved in a few days allowing registration on the Irish government's supplier list and anything else that requires a DUNS number.
The small things are boring but they can also be exciting. It is nice to see the company progressing and I am looking forward to the next milestone. Still loving the Copilot help with writing these blog posts.
